President’s Message – Connections Here, There, and Everywhere

President’s Message – Connections Here, There, and Everywhere

Throughout the second quarter, I had the opportunity to see our annual theme, Strength in Connection, come to life in ways that are both inspiring and encouraging. One of the greatest privileges of serving as President is watching members share their expertise, support one another, and invest their time to strengthen our profession.

Connection isn't simply about bringing people together. It's about what happens once they're in the room.

This quarter, we saw that firsthand.

Our inaugural Principal Member Roundtable brought senior leaders together for open, honest conversations about the challenges facing senior managers. Rather than leaving with the weight of those challenges on their shoulders, participants left with new ideas, practical solutions, and the reassurance that they are not navigating today's complex environment alone.

Education continued to be another cornerstone of connection. Our Life Science Seminar gave members an opportunity to learn firsthand about the unique operations and maintenance of laboratory facilities, while our Foundations in Real Estate series introduced both new and emerging professionals to the fundamentals of commercial property management. Whether learning a specialized skill or building a strong foundation, these programs demonstrated that knowledge grows when it's shared.

Of course, connection isn't always built in a classroom. Sometimes it happens over a conversation at a networking event, on a golf course, or while volunteering alongside fellow members.

Our sold-out Golf Tournament once again reminded us why it remains one of BOMA San Diego's signature events. Beyond the competition, it was a day filled with laughter, friendships, and conversations that continue long after the final putt. Our Property Manager Mixer created another welcoming space for members to strengthen relationships, exchange ideas, and expand their professional networks.

Giving back also remains an important part of who we are. During our Community Service Summer Work Party, members came together in service of our local community, demonstrating that the relationships we build within BOMA extend well beyond our industry and into the neighborhoods where we live and work.

Our connections also reached far beyond San Diego this quarter. At the Pacific Northwest and Pacific Southwest Regional Conference, we had the privilege of welcoming and collaborating with BOMA leaders from Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, and Nevada. These regional relationships allow us to learn from one another and bring fresh ideas back to our own chapter.

That spirit continued at the BOMA International Conference in Long Beach, where members connected with industry professionals from across North America, Mexico, Canada, China, and Japan. Conferences like these remind us that while our markets may differ, our challenges are often shared, and so are the innovative solutions that help move our industry forward.

Looking back over the past few months, one thing has become abundantly clear. The greatest value of BOMA isn't found in any single event or educational program. It is found in the people who generously share their experience, encourage one another's success, and willingly invest in the growth of our profession.

That is Strength in Connection.

As we look ahead to the second half of the year, I hope you'll continue to engage, volunteer, mentor, learn, and reach out to someone new. Every conversation has the potential to spark an idea, solve a problem, or begin a lasting professional friendship. Together, we are building more than an association. We are building a community that makes each of us stronger.

Thank you for being part of BOMA San Diego. I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events.
