The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has opened a public comment period for the Continuum of Care (CoC) Funding Formula to assist cities in addressing homelessness issues.
County of San Diego Climate Action Plan

Support Local Infrastructure Investment and Join the Campaign for a Better San Diego: Your support and financial assistance is necessary in order to pass this measure. If it fails, expect longer commute times, and delays or elimination of vital transportation projects.

Government Affairs Committee Update
At their July meeting the BOMA Government Affairs Committee heard from representatives from the San Diego Housing Commission about a proposal headed for the November ballot.

Article 34 of the State Constitution, adopted in 1950, states that any low-rent housing that is developed, constructed, or acquired by a state public agency requires voter approval. In the City of San Diego four past ballot measures have authorized the capacity for up to 10,500 affordable units, of which 7,253 have been utilized leaving only 3,247 units of capacity remaining.

Rebate Maximization: Tips for LED Lighting Upgrades
The high cost of an LED lighting upgrade is quite the pain point for many and can only be eliminated by the energy efficiency rebates provided by the local utility company - SDG&E. The lighting rebate process is no simple task and is considered to be both an art and a science. As a building owner or property manager, the number one consideration comes down to identifying how to leverage and maximize existing rebates when performing an LED lighting upgrade. This guide will serve as a framework for making decisions and a summary of SDG&E's lighting rebates as they relate to your projects.

Mayor Kevin Falconer recently released his proposed budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2017, and staff presented it to the BOMA Government Affairs Committee this month. The $3.3 billion budget is balanced, maintains enhanced reserve levels for the general and risk management funds, restores and enhances core services, and continues the Mayor's focus on investing in neighborhood infrastructure.

The BOMA Emerging Leaders Committee planned a clever event this month at the Sorrento Valley Golf Center. The event took place at their driving range on a Wednesday evening and attendees were treated to a free golf swing analysis and some pointers from a Pro Golfer!

The committee is pleased to announce this years beneficiary is the Boys & Girls Club of Encanto. BOMA Board Member Diana Cuevas said this is the largest facility we've worked on since she's been in BOMA.
Hands-On Hoppy Service Project
On April 7, the Community Service Committee joined the HandsOn Hoppy Service Project. Hosted at the Loma Club in Point Loma, there was live music, and great food and drinks with a percentage going to the project. The committee members made 9 no-sew fleece blankets for cancer patients to support YANA-Cancer Comfort.
Housing Affordability In The Golden State
Housing continues to be a big issue here locally, as well as in Sacramento. We know the situation all too well in San Diego, and the pressure that the high cost of living creates in the political realm.

Awards & Scholarships
Each year, two scholarships are awarded to deserving individuals in honor of Jack Moshgat, a BOMA past president who passed away many years ago. The purpose of the Jack Moshgat Scholarship is to recognize a deserving person's desire to pursue and expand a career in commercial real estate.

The Membership Committee has had a great year so far in 2016! Our #1 goal is to increase and engage our membership! We started off February with the Associate Brown Bagger lunch where all associate members were welcomed to a free lunch to receive advice from seasoned members on the best way to navigate BOMA, engage principal members and get involved with a committee.
