New Member Spotlight - Kathy Stanley

We are excited to be highlighting Kathy Stanley in our latest New Member Spotlight! Kathy is a Portfolio Administrator at Kilroy Realty and has managed both office and retail buildings.
BOMA San Diego: What is your role/responsibility at Kilroy Realty?
Kathy: Portfolio Administrator, San Diego Region – I assist the Property Managers in the SD region in completing financial/accounting reports and analysis, assist tenants directly with their leases and accounting, and provide support on various projects as needed.
BOMA San Diego: Tell us about your family and pets!
Kathy: I have two children – my son is 28 years old and working toward his goal of being a Registered Nurse, and my daughter is 17 years old and a high school senior. My mom lives with my daughter and I, three generations under one roof, and we love it! We have four dogs and a cat who all think they are humans!
BOMA San Diego: What was your first role and what ultimately got you interested in this field?
Kathy: My first role in property management was as a Property Accountant for a large shopping mall. I held several positions in commercial retail property management over 11 years and in 2018 started working for Kilroy Realty. With Kilroy, I’ve had the exciting opportunity to learn about office management as well.
BOMA San Diego: What are your top three goals for joining BOMA San Diego?
Kathy:
1) Meeting professionals that I can learn from in the office management field
2) Getting fresh perspective on tenant relations (especially during challenging situations)
3) Education
BOMA San Diego: What is your favorite part of the workday?
Kathy: I like the morning after I have planned my goals and strategy for the day and get to jump right in! Also, the end of the day and recapping to myself what I have accomplished, and putting my plan for tomorrow in place is also a favorite.
BOMA San Diego: What is a book you read that you would recommend?
Kathy: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot.
BOMA San Diego: What is a hobby you do outside of work?
Kathy: Gardening and reading.
