New Member Spotlight – Liz Howeth
Welcome, Liz Howeth, BOMA San Diego’s newest, but returning member!
Liz is a Property Manager at Kilroy Realty overseeing 600,000 square feet of Class A commercial office buildings from Sabre Springs to Liberty Station. She is also part of a larger asset management team in San Diego managing buildings from Del Mar to Downtown San Diego. Liz Howeth moved to San Diego for college and never left paradise. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development with the intention of being a teacher but claims, “Property management just suits me.” She and her husband have five children together. Her two stepsons are adults and one is proudly serving in the U.S. Army. Her younger children are 12, 7 and 4 – each of their names starts with the letter “J”. The family also has two yellow Labrador Retrievers, Miley and Dolly. Miley is an old lady at 12-years-old and Dolly a puppy at just 6-months-old. Liz’s home is never boring, that's for sure!
Liz entered the property management world after enrolling with a temp agency. Her first job assignment was with The Irvine Company, working at high-rise buildings downtown. She started as a receptionist, progressed to assistant and moved up over the years. At the start, Liz had never even heard of property management. After learning so much about the industry, she ultimately stuck with it – working and learning from some the most amazing people over the years. What’s her favorite part of the workday? Interacting with the people! “I have the best team and I love talking to them, catching up and working together,” said Liz.
A returning member of BOMA San Diego, Liz was previously a member from 2010-2014, at which point she left work to stay home with her children. Five years later, she returned to the workforce and was excited to rejoin BOMA San Diego. She previously participated in the Community Service Committee and is interested in supporting the Education Committee.
Outside of work, Liz recommends watching “Flight Attendant” on HBO Max and loves to hike. COVID-19 has amplified her outdoor hobby – most recently, she’s completed the Five Peak Challenge (more than once) and aims to hike El Capitan mountain.
Thank you Liz for the wonderful re-introduction! We are so happy to have you back!
