New Member: Kevin Weinberg
Q1: Your name and professional designations:
Kevin Weinberg North American Board Certified Practitioner (NACEP)
Q2: Where do you currently work and what does the company specialize in?
I work for Baker Electric in the Commercial Solar Division. Baker Electric has multiple divisions with their own specializations. Our General Electric Construction division handles new construction, remodels and retrofits. Our Technology Services Department ("TSG") covers service, controls and EV charging. Our Commercial Solar Division (my division) covers commercial, industrial, government/education, and utility scale solar including micro-grid technology (batteries) and R&D projects. We have installed/under contracted to date a HALF a GIGAWATT! That's 500,000,000 Watts of solar (or enough to power 100,000 homes). We are one of the largest, most trusted solar companies in Southern California.
Q3: Summarize the role you play at your current office.
I have specialized for the last 10 years in helping property owners, property managers, CFO's and CEOs reduce their electricity cost, take advantage of federal and state tax incentives, and evaluate financing available specifically for commercial/industrial/educational solar power. I hold a voluntary NABCEP certification provided by an independent third party to "demonstrate competence in the field and a commitment to upholding high standards of ethical and professional practice." My title is Senior Commercial Solar Engineer -- from the time the customer calls the office to the time they sign the contract, I walk them through the process. I manage the entire process including bill analysis, site analysis, bringing in required partners/contractors (roofing, carport, etc.) as needed, proposal/presentation, to contract signing. Currently I'm working with a lot of multi-property managers to evaluate their sites for solar and battery storage opportunities.
Q4: Where were you born?
San Diego! :)
Q5: Did you attend college? If so, where and what year did you graduate?
Graduated San Diego State University in 2005 with a Bachelors Degree in Economics
Q6: In three words, how would your closest friends describe you?
Trustworthy Kind Knowledgeable
Q7: Name something no one knows about you.
