We are excited to welcome Myra De Ala to BOMA San Diego! Myra is a Property Manager for Corporate Services at ICW Group where she oversees the operations, maintenance, tenant occupancy, and vendor relations of her properties. Originally from the island of Guam, she joined the military (Navy) at a young age and traveled the world by ship. She has a big happy family of 8 (husband, four kids, and grandparents). She enjoys the outdoors, nature walks, camping, fishing, and long road trips.
BOMA San Diego: What was your first role and what ultimately got you interested in this field?
Myra: My first role in Property Management was as an Administrative Assistant. The everyday challenges, the unknown, and the creative ways to resolve issues quickly and productively caught my attention (Property Management is never dull or easy)! I enjoy tenant & vendor relations, operations, and the opportunity to make a change, to be exciting.
BOMA San Diego: What are your top three goals for joining BOMA San Diego?
Myra:
- Network - meet other professionals, gain new perspectives, philosophies, and best practices.
- Build new business connections.
- Develop long term relationships.
BOMA San Diego: What Committees have you joined or are you interested in joining?
Myra: I am currently in the Education Committee.
BOMA San Diego: What is your favorite part of the workday?
Myra: Mornings – when I arrive to the office and see the smiling faces of my coworkers.
BOMA San Diego: What is a book you read that you would recommend?
Myra: Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of children’s books. MJ is my youngest child (4 years old) and he loves our reading time. The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson is a book we often read together which teaches you not to let challenges or obstacles get the best of you.
BOMA San Diego: What is a hobby you do outside of work?
Myra: Karaoke with family and friends (not a professional singer at all, but tolerable 😊).
