BOMA San Diego: Tell us how you first got involved with BOMA San Diego?
Renato: I moved down to San Diego in October of 2019 from Orange County. Back in Orange County I was heavily involved in BOMA, including being a member of the Board of Directors, co-chairing sub-committees, and winning the Rising Star of the Year Award in 2018. I knew that I wanted to get involved in the San Diego Chapter as soon as I moved here, and I was fortunate enough to join the Membership and Emerging Leaders Committee where I have gotten to know a lot of great people in the industry. Currently, I sit on the Board as a Member-at-Large, and I am also the Co-Chair for the Membership and Emerging Leaders Committee, the Liaison for the Communications Committee, and a member of the Government Affairs Committee.
BOMA San Diego: What strengths do you bring to your role as a Board Member?
Renato: I hope to be able to bring a different perspective to BOMA San Diego. I hope that, with my experience in the Orange County chapter, I am able to bring some new ideas, and we can work together to combine the best of both chapters.
BOMA San Diego: What are your current goals?
Renato: My current short-term goal is to get to know and develop relationships with my fellow Board and committee members. I am also hoping that, by taking an active role in a few committees, I can bring the most value to BOMA as a whole. In the long term, I hope to be President of BOMA San Diego.
BOMA San Diego: What hobby or hobbies do you have outside of work?
Renato: Pre-quarantine our hobbies at home revolved around our girls. We loved taking them out on the weekends - whether it be a baseball game, a theme park, or the movies. We are huge Disney fans so we try to go to Disneyland as much as we can. All of our girls are still young, so we are trying to make as many memories as we can with them. We are looking forward to quarantine being over so that we can begin to explore everything San Diego has to offer.
BOMA San Diego: What is/was a TV show that has made quarantining better?
Renato: I actually went a little retro during quarantine and started watching a few movies from the '70s, '80s, and ’90s. I watched the entire Alien franchise, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Die Hard just to name a few.
BOMA San Diego: If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
Renato: If I could do anything for a day, I would love to spend a day at Disney World with my family. We have only been to Disney World once, and that trip was probably the best I’ve ever taken. We made some memories that I will cherish forever. I can’t imagine a better way to spend a day than with my four girls in the most magical place on earth!
