Energy Savings Impact Through HVAC Efficiency
Over the past decade, our nation and specifically California has emphasized the importance of energy savings and creating energy efficiency programs to lower the carbon footprint of commercial real estate.
“Our nation’s buildings account for 40 percent of our primary energy use—more than either transportation or industry. They are responsible for 72 percent of the electricity consumption and 39 percent of the total U.S. CO2 emissions. These CO2 emissions approximately equal the combined total emissions of Japan, France, and the United Kingdom.” -American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc.
There are many ways to save energy and create greater efficiency of commercial facilities and an emphasis has been on HVAC systems (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning). These systems account for approximately 48% of a buildings total energy consumption per the Department of Energy: Office of Conservation and Renewable Energy.
Each year San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) and Conservation Services Group, Inc. (CSG) partner up to create a more sustainable and efficient partnership through their Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Premium Efficiency Cooling Program (PECP). The PECP focuses on encouraging mechanical contractors to be dedicated to Education/Program support, Energy Efficiency, Renewable & Clean Energy.
San Diego headquartered mechanical contractor, Pacific Rim Mechanical, took its own initiative to participate in the PECP program saving 8.7 million kilowatts an hour of energy, equating to over $1.7 million dollars of savings in client’s electricity bills between 2010 and 2012.* During those two years, Pacific Rim Mechanical became the leading contractor of energy savings who participated in this program proving their true dedication to sustainable practices.
“Having an energy efficient footprint is part of Pacific Rim Mechanical’s vision and focus for our clients,” says Pacific Rim Mechanical Vice President, Steve DeStefano.
In providing top of the line equipment, best practices knowledge and expert service maintenance and projects teams, Pacific Rim Mechanical delivers the most efficient solutions and programs creating sustainable energy savings to their clients. ‘Pac Rim’ was presented the Excellence Award as a leading partner in the programs ‘Million Kilowatt Hour Club.’ Such success and devotion to energy conscious programs has lead Pacific Rim Mechanical to expand their Energy and Automation Services Division, offering an assortment of services for their clients.
