Top Honors for San Diego’s Outstanding Buildings

The 2024 TOBY (The Outstanding Building of the Year) Awards honored excellence in commercial building management and operations, showcasing the best in San Diego. Two exceptional properties took home top honors:

Office Under 100,000 Square Feet: Mission City Corporate Center
Owned by City Office REIT and managed by JLL, this Class A office campus in Mission Valley exemplifies San Diego’s evolution into a dynamic live-work-play city.

Mixed Use: One Paseo
Owned and managed by Kilroy Realty Corporation, One Paseo offers an elegant mix of Class A office space and a walkable village of boutique shops, restaurants, and gathering spaces, perfectly blending a coastal and country aesthetic in Del Mar.

Both winners will advance to the Pacific Southwest Regional competition, hoping to represent San Diego at the 2025 BOMA International Conference & Expo in Boston next summer.

The TOBY Awards are the industry's highest recognition for excellence in commercial building management and operations. The competition evaluates all facets of a building's operations, including sustainability, energy conservation, community involvement, and tenant support.

This year’s TOBY program was championed by Isaac Warner of American Assets Trust. The committee also applauds the efforts of TOBY judges Thor Emblem of GSH Group, Luke Johnson, Melanie Bamba Milinkevich of RSI Roofing, and Jesse Neville of CBRE, along with the guidance of TOBY Committee Chair Shelby Ballow and the support of BOMA San Diego’s BAE team.

“There is no shortage of excellence in San Diego,” Warner noted at the awards ceremony, expressing pride in the local commercial real estate community. Congratulations to this year’s winners, and best of luck at regionals!
