July President's Message
June has been a busy month. The Executive Committee was in Sacramento meeting with leaders from all over the State at the California Commercial Real Estate Summit where we converged on the State Capitol to meet with our elected officials to discuss issues impacting our industry. We advocated in support of the industry, educating legislators on how the CRE industry creates jobs and builds and maintains the most energy-efficient buildings in the nation.
Then on to Nashville for the Annual BOMA International Conference and Expo. It was the most attended conference ever with over 3,000 affiliates from all over the world. It’s so stimulating to network with professionals from our industry, attend the informative and current educational sessions and meet with the exhibitors displaying the most innovative products and ideas. It was interesting to see how the “Green Pavilion” had expanded over the years. The energy efficient exhibitors started off several years ago in a tiny section of the exhibition, but this year they dominated almost half of the space.
I’m looking forward to the July luncheon on the 11th at Tom Hams Lighthouse. It’s the Summer Savings Membership Campaign, and we will be learning about problem-solving day-to-day issues in buildings. Don’t forget to bring a non-member principal guest for free!
Summer is here; the weather has warmed up, children are out of school, vacations are booked and, if possible, traffic on the I-5 is worse than ever! Be safe, and I hope to see you soon.
