Section: President's Message

Can you believe it’s already June? This year is flying by! Our brand new Emerging Leaders Committee held their first event in May – a bowling night mixed in with a little networking etiquette, and a pairing of folks new to the commercial real estate industry with industry veterans. A fun time was had by all and there were lots of new faces at the event. Great job to Lisa Lash of ABM Industries and Sam Cadwallader of New Way Landscape for spearheading this new committee!

Though we are dark luncheon-wise in June, your executive committee will be heading up to Sacramento on June 2nd and 3rd to participate in the California Commercial Real Estate Summit where we will visit state representatives to help highlight the importance of commercial real estate and a job friendly environment.

The BOMA International Convention kicks off in Los Angeles on June 28th and your executive committee will be representing you there as well. If you have the opportunity, I encourage you to attend the convention – it is a great event filled with education sessions, networking opportunities and a trade show with all of your favorite service providers exhibiting.  You can even register to attend the trade show only for free! You still get the benefit of cutting edge technology and meeting new service providers. Of course, we will be proudly cheering on our two Regional TOBY Award winners – San Diego Tech Center and Kilroy Centre Del Mar – as they represent San Diego in the International TOBY Awards on June 30th.  Our fingers are crossed for the win for both of these deserving properties!

Congratulations to our two Jack Moshgat Scholarship winners, Rhonda Vicker of Meissner Jacquet Commercial Real Estate Services and Janelle Duff of Kilroy Realty Corporation.  These two dedicated BOMA members will be able to further their commercial real estate education in the Foundations course, the RPA program or the FMA program with classes offered right here in San Diego.  If you are interested in any of these programs, please check out the Education tab on the BOMA website.  Two education scholarships are awarded each year to deserving BOMA members who are active in the organization.
