Section: President's Message

Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately you know California is in the middle of a serious drought and as a result, mandatory water restrictions are in place.  BOMA San Diego has been involved in discussions with the Mayor’s office and the Public Utilities Department regarding these restrictions.

As you know, it is important that each one of us personally works to conserve water as well as helping the properties we manage be as water-responsible as possible.  BOMA San Diego is pulling together resources for our members to help provide ideas for conservation, answer questions you may have, track water usage, and find information on rebates available.  As soon as this information has been compiled, the BOMA office will send a notice out.  We are also working on putting together a seminar on water conservation and our ‘new normal’ when it comes to water usage.  If you have ideas or information you want to share or questions you would like answered, please email me and we will try to incorporate them into the water conservation seminar.

On a much happier note, congratulations to our two regional TOBY winners, Kilroy Centre Del Mar and San Diego Tech Center! Bernadette Blanco and the entire Kilroy Realty Corporation team as well as Amy Lane and the entire team at EdgeCore Real Estate did a great job in presenting their respective buildings and their hard work paid off!  We are so proud to have them represent San Diego at the BOMA International TOBY Awards in June.  Our fingers are crossed for the win! To our other entrants in the Regional TOBYs, we have faith that your fabulous buildings will win next time!  Our local TOBY awards entry deadline is coming up. Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your building. The TOBYs are an opportunity to learn more about your building and bond with your team.

The annual BOMA International convention is being held June 28th – 30th in Los Angeles. It’s not often that the international convention is held so close to home and I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity. If you can’t attend the entire convention, go for a day or sign up to attend the trade show.    Personally, it was the BOMA International convention that gave me the full picture of what BOMA does. The education seminars offered are timely for what we are working on as property managers and the services and technology on display at the expo are will blow your mind.   And finally, the opportunity to network with other property managers from around the country is unparalleled.  Don’t miss it!
