President's Message - November 2024
Dear BOMA Members,
It’s been quite a year so far and we can’t wait to celebrate this Saturday at our Annual TOBY and Membership Awards!
I’d like to take a moment to update you on a recent change within our Executive Leadership team. As some of you may know, last month Renato Vazquez accepted a new job opportunity and relocated with his family. He will no longer be serving in the role as Vice President. I’m grateful for his contributions to our association over the last few years, and excited to see how his future unfolds with this new opportunity. We wish Renato and his family the best of luck!
I am pleased to announce that on October 10th at our monthly board meeting, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to elect Stacy Kurko with Jay Paul Company to serve as Vice President for the remainder of the year. Stacy has had a momentous year serving on the Board of Directors as a Member-At-Large and as our Membership Chair. She’s been featured as the primary speaker for our Associate Download, one of our Women in Business Interview Series and an Emerging Professionals Fireside Chat. She’s also served as an advocate for our Student Outreach program. She has been a member of BOMA New York and BOMA San Francisco, so she brings a wealth of knowledge and decades of experience for all things BOMA. Please join us in welcoming Stacy to the Executive Leadership team!
Our final event of the year will be our December luncheon, featuring Mitch Simon. As in years past, this luncheon is about personal development. Someone much wiser than me said, to know yourself is to lead yourself. Part of being an effective leader is truly understanding your own strengths, weaknesses, and goals as a leader, as well as being willing to understand your team’s unique, individual strengths and weaknesses. You can find balance amongst your team if you know what you are good at and what you are bad at. But in order to achieve that balance, it starts with you. I hope you will consider getting to know yourself a little better at this final luncheon! You can still register here.
Thank you for your continued support,
Melanie Milinkevich
President of BOMA San Diego
