For the last 9 years, BOMA San Diego members have gathered at our annual CPR.First Aid training event to learn tools to saves lives while they pump a mannequin’s chest to the beat of the Bee Gees, ‘Staying Alive’. This year’s event was organized and hosted by the Emergency Preparedness and Sustainability Committee and sponsored by Lauren Winter of Securitas and Jeff Case of Allied Universal; this free event is a testament to BOMA’s commitment to nurture community-minded leaders and educate our members.

Trainer Michael Jarrous, of Protera CPR, has led this BOMA training event since 2015. His fun style keeps the class engaged, as he reiterates the fundamentals and importance of this training. Property Manager, Ann DiLorenzo of Kidder Matthews returns to this training every two years to renew her certification and freshen up her knowledge. Property Manager, Marisol Gonzalez of Rockhill Management attended this class for the first time this year. She sees it as a great, free benefit of her BOMA San Diego membership. Associate Member, Shawn McFarlane of Ollivier Managed Security was last CPR certified nearly 20 years ago. She feels empowered by the opportunity to learn to save lives.

Trainer, Michael Jarrous has this piece of wisdom when it comes to CPR, “The number one reason people don’t survive sudden cardiac arrest is because no-one starts compression in time. The best thing to do to help solve this problem is to take a CPR class, then take action when necessary.”

If you are interested in attending next year’s session, keep an eye out on the BOMA San Diego calendar.

Thank you again to our training sponsors, Securitas and Allied Universal, along with our lunch sponsor, Dave Threet of Security First, breakfast sponsor Frank Belio Jr. of HKA Elevator Consulting, and space sponsor Biomed Realty.
