Monarch School Project, a 501(c)(3) non profit, serves unhoused students and their families in San Diego County. Nearly 300 students attend the school every day and over 167 families are assisted every year.
Monarch School is the only K-12 school of its kind in the nation serving unhoused students and their families with a public school curriculum and robust social care program.
The BOMA Community Service Committee hosted its annual Back-to-School drive, sub-chaired by Marc Fertig of South Shore Building Services, from July 1st - August 29th.
Over 300 backpacks and school supplies (teacher essentials, clothing and classroom supplies) were collected and delivered to Monarch School. That is one new backpack for EACH student on campus!
In addition to the backpacks and school supplies, the drive also collected $628 in donations made directly to Monarch School.
The Community Service Committee is looking forward to hosting this fundraiser again next year!
If you want to join the committee or have ideas on San Diego organizations BOMA can partner with, please reach out to Erica Mann, committee chair, at emann@sdme-inc.com. It feels good to give!
