Awards, Scholarships & TOBY Awards
The purpose of this committee is to oversee the support and recognition of both up and coming and distinguished members of BOMA San Diego through three sub-committees: scholarships, membership awards, and TOBY awards. Each sub-committee strives to increase membership participation in BOMA related activities and to publicize member accomplishments within BOMA and the commercial real estate industry at large.
Communications
The Communications Committee is responsible for spreading the word about all things BOMA San Diego! We curate the monthly newsletters, help with social media posts, and produce fun and informative video content that helps us all connect with one another and create a tight-knit community.
Community Service
The Community Service Committee coordinates membership to benefit San Diego charities and the community in general, in order to maximize the visibility and public awareness of BOMA San Diego and to provide a vehicle for community service.
Education
The BOMA Education Committee helps support principal members in continuing industry specific learning opportunities through various courses in conjunction with BOMI. The committee plans classes and assists members in their pursuit of designations such as the RPA and FMA.
Emerging Professionals
We exist to mentor, equip and be a resource to the next generation of principal and associate members by providing mentorship, education and networking opportunities to professionals new to the industry. If you have less than 5 years of experience or are 35 yo or under, please consider joining us. We are a growing group, navigating the industry together, looking to help one another towards their next BIG STEP!
Emergency Preparedness & Sustainability
The Emergency Preparedness & Sustainability committee works to educate the CRE industry, our surrounding communities, and our industry partners on current health, safety, and sustainability standards for San Diego real estate professionals. Our committee plans and organizes a number of important events, such as our annual blood drives, CPR & First Aid training, sustainability site tours, and our biggest event - our Active Shooter Drill, where we work with local police and fire and a core of membership volunteers to create a realistic experience meant to train our first responders and our peers in the event of an actual active shooter. This collective education is invaluable and allows our membership and communities to take that information and share it with their owners, properties, and tenants.
Finance
The Finance Committee monitors the fiscal viability of the chapter.
Government Affairs
The Government Affairs Committee promotes the interests of the commercial real estate industry through legislative analysis, advocacy and member education.
Leadership Development
Comprised of past presidents and invited long-standing associate members, the purpose of the BOMA San Diego Leadership Development Committee is to manage the nominations process by developing criteria, conducting interviews and appointing the Board of Directors.
Life Science
San Diego’s Real Estate landscape is changing. San Diego is the 3rd largest biotech cluster in the U.S., trailing only San Francisco and Boston. The sales volume for San Diego lab and R&D space over the last 12 months was $3.4 billion. Life Science is expanding, and San Diego is a main top-desired destination. Tapping into our amazing colleges’ pool of talent and extraordinary climate and lifestyle, life science companies are quickly expanding in San Diego. Last year, BOMA San Diego launched our Life Science Committee to be on the cutting edge of this trend. Our committee is focused on creating seminars and content to educate property managers on Life Science practices.
Membership
Our goal is to maintain and expand the current membership. Members of this committee strive to create a welcoming environment; they serve as “hosts” for new or prospective members at functions. We help guide new members to join a committee that best fits their interests. We reach out to the CRE community promoting the benefits of BOMA membership. The Membership Committee meets monthly with every third meeting being in person.
Programs
The BOMA San Diego Programs and Seminars Committee aims to provide the membership with an ideal blend of relevant, entertaining, and educational luncheon programs and seminars. We meet on the first Thursday of every month.
Special Events
The Special Events Committee produces social and networking events and contributes funds to the organization.
Sponsorship
The Sponsorship Committee is responsible for promoting and implementing the benefits of our sponsorship program based on our annual supporting partners membership level. We are the voice of the annual supporting partners to make sure their membership is adding value.
Strategic Planning (SLRP)
The Strategic Long-Range Planning Committee plans and organizes the goals of each committee in the form of a report. The report functions as a standard operating procedure for committees.
