In one of our previous blog articles, we mentioned that residents, businesses, homeowner associations and public agencies in San Diego County are eligible for rebates from the San Diego County Water Authority (SDCWA) and the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) of up to $3.50 per square foot for replacing turf grass with water-efficient landscaping options.  At this time, the rebate program from the SDCWA has expired, but MWD rebates at $2.00 per square foot (unlimited) are still going strong.  But – timing is key and now is the time to take advantage of these rebates while planning for spring. 

With the generous MWD rebate being offered and assistance from Pacific Green Landscape’s experienced and knowledgeable team members, one of our clients decided it was time to make the switch and replace their water-guzzling turf on their National City property.

At Southport Industrial Office Complex managed by HG Fenton, Pacific Green took out approximately 10,000 square feet of turf and replaced it with low-water use plants such as Lantana, Bougainvillea, Bird of Paradise and various succulents.  Pacific Green staff also knew that rebates were being offered for upgrading sprinkler systems.  So, Pacific Green upgraded the properties entire irrigation system by taking out old sprinkler heads and installing new MP rotators. 

Now, the property requires less water and when it is irrigated, the system uses the correct amount with no excess or waste - saving water and money each month. More importantly, our client will be receiving rebate checks for more than $28,000.
