Riverwalk San Diego Development: Transit-Friendly Mixed Use Neighborhood
San Diego’s newest $3 billion, 200-acre development project called Riverwalk San Diego will take the place of the underused Riverwalk golf course in Mission Valley. Led by real estate investment and management company, Hines, this new mixed-use community will consist of native river habitat, a large public park, and an exciting live-work-play neighborhood.
Riverwalk San Diego will be the first neighborhood focused on transit connectivity. It will be built around a light-rail system, close to eight MTS bus lines and include six miles of walking trails and bike paths. Biking will be further encouraged with the addition of repair stations and rest areas, along with showers and lockers in office/retail areas.
Construction will take place over the next ten years, resulting in 4,300 residential units, 97 acres of open space, 150,000 SF of retail and 1,000,000 SF of Class-A Office space. Construction for the first phase of Riverwalk is set to begin in April 2022.
